Wagga Wagga Toy Run!
The Run is free to enter but we do expect you to bring along a new, unwrapped toy for the cause. All riders are eligible for the Lucky Rider Prize. There will be an Auction (open to the public) at the end of the ride with items like Kids Cubby House furniture, large wooden toys and rocking horses made by inmates of Junee Correctional Centre, donated by GEO. .

The Wagga Wagga Toy Run is a joint initiative conducted by a Committee of
representatives from Wagga Wagga Branches of The Ulysses Club and The Harley Owners Group. The GEO Group, Ron Crouch Transport and the Commonwealth Bank being the major sponsors for this years Run which has been an annual event in Wagga Wagga for over twenty five years. The aim is to collect and purchase toys for distribution at Christmas for underprivileged children of all ages in Wagga Wagga and District. The event is open to all licensed motorcyclists riding properly registered and suitably insured motorcycles. The Run is conducted strictly in accordance with all NSW Motor Traffic Act and Regulations. Pillions under the age of 8 years are not permitted. There is NO entry charge and all riders will be eligible to win the lucky rider prize. A monster raffle is also run on the day with many prizes being donated by local business houses. Other donated goods are auctioned to raise cash for the purchase of more Christmas gifts for needy children. Riders are encouraged to decorate their bikes in a Christmas theme and donate a toy for the cause.
The Run is a total distance of 85 km and commences at Jubilee Park, South Wagga Wagga with a barbecue breakfast on sale from 7.30am prepared by the Kooringal Scouts. The procession will depart the carpark at 9.00am sharp, escorted by NSW Highway Patrol with Santa on a trike occupying the front positions.
Over the next three hours the Run will pass through Bourkelands, Estella, North Wagga, Gumly Gumly, Forest Hill, Lake Albert, Tatton, Kooringal, Mount Austin, Turvey Park, Tolland, Glenfield Park, Ashmont and Central Wagga, finishing at Bolton Park after a procession down Baylis Steet at around 12 Noon.
Toys will be collected from spectators along the way in two Wagga Wagga City Council utes at the back of the pack driven by volunteers. The Run will make short stops along the way allowing people to bring toys to a close location.
Forest Hill Park at around 9.45am, Apex Park, Lake Albert at 10.05am where a thirty minute Morning Tea will be provided by Kooringal Scouts at a charge of $2.00.......then on to Henwood Park, Kooringal at 10.45am, Ashmont Oval at 11.37am, Victory Memorial Gardens at 12.00 noon. Representatives from SES, VRA, and RFS brigades from Forest Hill, Lake Albert and Glenfield will act as marshals at these stops. This year Shane Egan has arranged for a clear run down Baylis St. with the side streets being blocked for the parade.
At the completion of the ride at Bolton Park there will be a sausage sizzle, presentation of the Lucky Rider prizes and monster raffle draw and auction before the presentation of collected toys and donations to representatives of The Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul. The Auction is open to the general public so let your friends know that they can pick up a bargain and help a very worthwhile cause.
Usually, around 200 riders participate and between $12,000 and $15,000 in cash is raised through donations from business houses and the general public and converted into Christmas gifts, by committee members. This is in addition to the many thousands of dollars worth of toys that are donated by the generous public of Wagga Wagga and district.
